Entry for the competition Europan 4. The Vivegnis site can be interpreted as a metaphor for outskirts in general: one side bordered by a hill -a natural landscape- and the other sides by a fairly dense urban fabric. The outskirts normally don't have a focal point; they contain no orientation system. They have their own qualities: they are a zone of communication, superposition and transition of seemingly contradictory characteristics. They are both the former border, and possible centres of new activity.
In the proposal is tried to deal with questions concerning diversity, like multi-functionality can improve the life chances of the site and gives the site its backbone to support possible future changes. Flexibility in the organisation of housing and work spaces can provide the site developing an own character, with which inhabitant can identify.
